The Wausau School District is pleased to announce that it has been approved by the Department of Public Instruction to participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the 2016-2017 school year. This provision allows all students attending identified schools to receive a free breakfast and free lunch under the School Breakfast Program and National School Lunch Program. With the District's CEP approval, this school year all students attending Franklin Elementary School, Grant Elementary School, G.D. Jones Elementary School, Hawthorn Hills Elementary School, Lincoln Elementary School, Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, and the Enrich, Excel, Achieve (EEA) Learning Academy will be able to receive free breakfast and lunch. The CEP is a provision endorsed by the USDA that is available to schools across the nation with high percentages of students in poverty.
“The School Nutrition Services team looks forward to serving our students free, healthy meals at these seven schools,” said Lee Nielsen, the District’s Director of School Nutrition Services.
